Quality and Environmental Management

Since our establishment, Mizushima Ferroalloy has worked tirelessly toward the improvement of quality control, whilst its ceaseless efforts in the development of its technology have been well recognized. Starting with high-carbon ferromanganese and silicon manganese in December 1973, then medium-carbon ferromanganese in November 1981, and low-carbon ferromanganese in March 1984, Mizushima Ferroalloy has approved by the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS).
In April, 1998, Mizushima Ferroalloy was approved by the ISO 9001, the International Organization for Standardization for quality assurance. In the manufacture of ferroalloys, Mizushima Ferroalloy does its utmost to maintain the highest standards of quality control system.
In 2006, Mizushima Ferroalloy was approved by the ISO 14001, the International Environmental Management System. The company is actively involved in working toward the protection of the natural environment.

Quality Policy

This Quality manual specifies the Quality Management to be implemented and maintained by us in accordance with the requirements of Quality Management System of the JIS Q 9001:2000 (ISO 9001:2000) in order to manufacture products conforming to performance and specifications required by customers and legal requirements.
The Quality Policy of Mizushima Ferroalloy is stated as follows.

(1) Customer-focused activities
Grasping the movements of the market whilst understanding the needs of our customers, we constantly strive to obtain optimum customer satisfaction.
As the only manufacturer of medium- and low-carbon ferromanganese in Japan, and as a manufacturer of boron nitride powder products, we take a serious view on our obligation to provide customers with a service that is consistent and stable. Mizushima Ferroalloys takes the responsibility for its activities with regard to “Quality”, “Delivery” and “Price”.
(2) The construction and implementation of a quality management system
For the purpose of satisfying the requirements of our customers, and to maintain high standards of customer satisfaction, we establish and implement an effective and efficient quality management system in a stable manner.
  1. We continuously strive to improve the effectiveness of our quality management system.
  2. For the development of our Quality Policy, we have established quality targets across all areas of operation. These are reviewed regularly and managed appropriately.
  3. Each and every employee recognizes the importance of his or her role, operating with the relevant degree of responsibility.

Environmental Policy

Mizushima Ferroalloy aims to carry out its business activities in a manner that is sympathetic to the global environment. With the entire company and staff working actively to tackle environmental issues, Mizushima Ferroalloy strives to leave in its tracks a society that is comfortable to exist in and an earth rich in resources.

  1. To establish and regularly review environmental goals and objectives; to make constant progress toward improving these.
  2. To grasp what impact is being givin on the environment; to progress with activities to prevent pollution of the environment and to reduce our burden on the environment.
  3. To comply with all requirements agreed by us relating to the environment, in addition to complying with the relevant laws, rules, regulations and pacts.
  4. To maintain harmony with the local community whilst carrying out environmental maintenance.
  5. To promote the education and promulgation on the environment whilst ensuring that all employees are kept aware of environmental issues.
